Political Economy of War and Peace

In the course of analyzing the feasibility and workability of three conceivable systems of social cooperation - liberalism, socialism and interventionism (a set of isolated measures of state regulation of the economy), L. von Mises chose the approach, which, in his opinion, "only makes the scientific study of political questions possible". He considered the theories he developed on the basis of this approach to be irrefutable.
In the articles included in this collection, the author applies these theories to the analysis of political problems in the 1920s and 1940s in Western Europe, the United States, and developing countries. In the interwar period, economic nationalism, autarky, and protectionism ruled politics. After the Second World War, the main task of Europe was to ensure lasting peace - both between major countries and between almost two dozen states in the Balkans and the Danube region.
