Alexander Pavlovich Chudakov (1938-2005) was a well-known literary critic and writer, the greatest researcher of Anton Chekhov's work.
In his monographs "Chekhov's Poetics" (1971) and "Chekhov's World: Emergence and Affirmation" (1986) he considers the writer's entire oeuvre as an integral system, describing the properties of its different levels - from subject to idea - on the basis of the statistical material he collected. Under the sensitive eye of the researcher fall the relationship of characters and narrator, the choice of plots and means of detailing the artistic space. The book also contains a biography of Alexander Pavlovich, written by the author's wife Marietta Omarovna Chudakova (literary historian, critic, writer) and his colleague Irina Gitovich (Chekhologist, literary historian, critic, textologist).
