Global warming is a serious topic.
However, Norwegian author Erika Fatland believes that any serious topic can be written into a captivating children's story, one that speaks vividly and humorously to concerns not only adults but also the younger generation. She describes her book as follows: "I think 'Stolen Winter' is an entertaining and action-packed story, a kind of James Bond for children, dealing with very serious issues."
'Stolen Winter' is a lively, ironic, and engaging children's detective story with an adult theme. At the beginning of December, meteorologists sound the alarm. For weeks, newspaper headlines scream one thing: "The Extreme Summer Continues!" Not only in Norway, but throughout the Northern Hemisphere, the heat and murkiness continue to rise, and temperatures continue to reach new heights. The Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place in Tromsø, Norway, but where is the snow? Hannah, a young amateur detective, realizes that the lack of winter is the work of international villains trying to control the weather. Together with her friend Oscar, a petty thief and courageous young man, she uncovers the villains' conspiracy. The children's dangerous and exciting adventures take them to various locations across Norway, and eventually to Russia. Two brave young detectives will save the world.
Young readers will learn many new and informative facts about our planet's climate through the exciting adventures of Hannah and Oscar.
