"Teenager" (1875) by Dostoevsky - a novel-confession, a novel of education, it details the formation of character and life position of a young man of 19 years, no longer quite a teenager, but also not an adult. He is the illegitimate son of the landowner Versilov and the wife of a yardman. His origin imprints on his whole life, he constantly feels the ambiguity of his position. Tormented by various experiences: conflicting feelings for his father, the desire to get rich and feel powerful, the desire to shut himself off from people and, on the contrary, the thirst to return to the thick of life, the thirst for mutual love - Arkady finds himself in a monstrous tangle of events in the novel. This is how he grows up and comprehends life.
"Teenager" is certainly a very modern novel, a novel where the problems of youthful self-determination are presented with such a brilliant knowledge of human psychology that any, even an adult will involuntarily see in the portrait of the hero and his reflection.
