Deniska Korablev is a very ordinary boy. He goes to school, lazy to do his homework, argues with his mother over nothing. And like any boy of his age, does not like to be bored. That's why every day he invents something new: he pours unpalatable porridge out the window, and then trades an expensive toy dump truck for a small firefly in a matchbox. This is how Deniska was created by the writer Viktor Dragunsky, whose funny stories have grown up more than one generation of young readers.
However, not everyone is familiar with another Dragunsky, a little sad and serious. Dragunsky, who as a young man was not taken to the front because of asthma, but in whom the love for the Motherland and the desire to help his compatriots were so strong that he went into the militia. Memories of that time formed the basis of the autobiographical story "He fell on the grass...", also included in this collection. Victor Dragunsky's characters were brought to life by the master of book graphics Evgeny Medvedev. In 2014, he won the Presidential Prize in Literature and Art for Children and Youth. For the first time, the Deniskin Stories series is published with a full set of illustrations by the famous artist.
