This collection includes three plays by Bernard Shaw. The most famous of them is Pygmalion (1912), which was the basis for many movies and the legendary Broadway musical My Fair Lady. The plot is based on an ancient Greek myth about a sculptor trying to revive a beautiful statue he has created. And the hero of the play Shaw from a simple flower girl for 6 months trying to make a refined aristocrat. "'Pygmalion' is a mockery of the fans of 'blue blood' ... each of my plays was a stone I threw through the windows of Victorian prosperity", - said Shaw. In 1977 a movie-ballet with E. Maximova and M. Liepa was staged based on this play. "Pygmalion" and now successfully goes in theaters around the world.
Also included in the edition are the play Candida (1895), about that incomprehensible and mysterious thing that defies rational explanation, for which a woman can love a man; and The Dark Lady of the Sonnets (1910), a kind of dramatization of the hidden plot of Shakespeare's sonnets.
