The book is devoted to the history of the Russian army in the era of Peter the Great. On the basis of unique monuments of the end of the XVII - the first quarter of the XVIII century, the "memories" of the first Russian emperor and other military relics from the richest collection of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, engineering troops and communications troops, the author tells about the creation and development of the Russian regular army: from the "funny" military games of the young Tsar Peter to the Persian campaign. A significant section is devoted to the events of the Northern War (1700-1721).
