The book includes the stories "Asya", "First Love", "Veshnye Vody". Turgenev wrote: "Love, I thought, is stronger than death and the fear of death. Only by it, only love holds on and moves life". In "Asya" (1858), the narrative is conducted on behalf of an anonymous narrator, recalling his youth and meeting in a small town on the banks of the Rhine with a girl Asei. On the slope of years the hero realizes that he truly loved only her. In the story "First Love" (1860), an elderly man tells about his youthful love. Sixteen-year-old Vladimir arrives with his family at a country estate, where he meets a beautiful girl, twenty-one-year-old Zinaida, and falls in love with her. Later, Vladimir discovers that Zinaida loves his own father... "Veshnye Vody" (1872) is the love story of Russian landowner Sanin. He recalls the events of thirty years ago, which happened in his life when he was traveling in Germany.
