Camilo Torres, the founder of the National Liberation Army, was an ally of the Argentine Peronist Montoneros, who fought against the Argentine juntas. Sendero Luminoso, one of the key guerrilla groups, terrorized Fujimori's far-right regime. They are all linked by a long history of guerrilla warfare and confrontation with pro-American regimes in Latin America. This confrontation even affected the Peruvian secret police, the sinister figure of Vladimir Lenin Montesinos, who crushed the guerrillas in Peru, but handed over Russian weapons to the red guerrillas FARC (for which he was later salted). And all this, seasoned with the participation of foreigners, including European left-wing radicals. You can read about all this in the book by the Dutch guerrilla Tanya Nijmeijer.
