The full-color edition on coated paper is devoted to forgotten or little-known pages of the history of domestic maritime education. It tells about the last period of the existence of the "Cradle of the Fleet" - the Marine Corps, founded by Peter I, about the history of maritime educational institutions created during the Civil War and in the first years of the existence of the Russian abroad, about the fate of those who studied there, and then found themselves in a foreign country, or stayed at home or returned to Russia, which became Soviet.
The book is based on the materials of the exhibition project of the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russian Abroad and the Heritage Fund of the Russian Abroad “The Last Guardsmen”. 1918-1925. Petrograd - Vladivostok - Sevastopol - Bizerta.
The photo documentary exhibition, prepared as part of the activities of the Department of Military Historical Heritage of the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russian Abroad, was demonstrated in 2018-2024 in different cities of Russia, as well as in Bizerte (Tunisia Republic).
The exhibition involved materials from six Russian and three foreign archives, one museum and eight private collections and family archives, as well as the Sailing Federation of the Orel region. A significant part of the materials is presented at the exhibition and in this book for the first time. Unique documents, photographs, pages of printed publications, images of relics allow you to visually touch the heroic, tragic, dramatic, and sometimes curious pages of the history of the Russian Navy in one of the most difficult periods of its existence.
