Haruki Murakami is a Japanese writer who became a classic during his lifetime thanks to his novels A Wild Sheep Chase, Norwegian Wood, Kafka on the Shore and others. During a baseball game in 1978, Murakami suddenly realized that he could write a book. He created his first texts at night in his jazz bar. This collection of stories is the quintessence of the author's work.

Can this book be called autobiographical? Yes and no. Murakami will tell you eight stories, and you will decide for yourself whether you believe him. In the stories, you will meet a girl writing tanka and shouting out someone else's name at the moment of greatest pleasure, and an old man who will tell you about the cream of creams - the essence of life. On the shelves of the store, you will find a non-existent record of Bird. The narrator will meet the ugliest woman and will listen to all the records of Schumann's Carnival with her. A beautiful girl with a record of "With the Beatles" will walk down the school corridor and disappear into oblivion forever. And a talking monkey from Shinagawa will admit over a glass of beer that he stole names from women.

The white cat Michi is the mascot of the series. Together with you, he will set off on a book journey through the countries of Asia: from enchanting Japan to mysterious Taiwan. Michi will be waiting for you on the pages of the book. Together with him, you will share the impressions of what you have read. As a keepsake of the journey, Michi will give you a collectible bookmark.
