Vasily Rozanov was one of the most original Russian philosophers and literary critics of the Silver Age. Literary labor was for him a way of life, a way of existence, a daily occupation and a necessity. At the same time, Rozanov never tried to write anything "artistic" and wondered why no one had ever thought to write like this before, simply, without any fictitious characters, without depicting the situation and circumstances, without immersion in the plot. Rozanov created a unique genre - "fallen leaves", comparable only to modern online diaries - blogs. The book "Fallen Leaves" (1913-1915) is a separate record of thoughts and impressions that "flow continuously" and that the author shares with readers in a confidential manner; their sequence forms the plot. This edition also includes two other significant works by Vasily Rozanov: "Solitary" (1911), where the type of philosophizing initially emerges, continued in "Fallen Leaves," and the essay "The Legend of F. M. Dostoevsky's Grand Inquisitor" (1891), devoted to the novel "The Brothers Karamazov" and which made Rozanov famous.
