A novel by I. A. Goncharov about a man immersed in apathy and inaction. The main character personifies the spiritual inertia of the nobility against the backdrop of social and ideological shifts. The work touches on the themes of loss of life guidelines and emerging nihilism.

Oblomov, a young nobleman, prefers to spend his days in cozy laziness, dreaming of a bright future. Everything is stable in his world: a soft robe, a harmful but devoted servant and eternal thoughts. Everything changes after meeting Olga Ilyinskaya, an intelligent and determined girl. She intends to change Oblomov's usual life. But is love capable of awakening someone who does not want to wake up?

When Goncharov wrote the first scene of the future novel, no one, not even the author himself, could imagine that his hero would become a symbol of an entire era, and the word "Oblomovism" would become a household word.
