"On pseudohallucinations" - the main work of the short creative life of the founder of Russian psychiatry V. Kh. Kandinsky. As one of the classic works of psychiatric thought, this book contains not only a story about its main subject - the phenomenon of pseudohallucinations, but also clinical descriptions of various psychopathological conditions, many of which were made by the author on the basis of observations of his own illness. These descriptions have not lost their relevance to this day.
Unfortunately, the book suffered the same difficult fate as its author. In 1885, the work was awarded the Filippov Prize of the St. Petersburg Society of Psychiatrists and was to be published on the funds of this society, which "for lack of them" was not done. Nevertheless, it was published in German in Berlin. It was only after Kandinsky's death, thanks to the efforts of his wife, that the monograph was published at home. 60 years later, in 1952, a second edition of the book was published, but the text was altered by a Soviet editor who excluded those passages in which the author expressed his adherence to the views of Western philosophers and psychiatrists. It took another 50 years for the work to be published in its original form, which occurred in 2001. The present edition is published according to the 1890 book.
