Even during his lifetime, Leonardo da Vinci was a legend. He was a mystery to his contemporaries and still remains one of the most mysterious figures in the history of mankind.
"As a well-spent day brings a happy dream, so fruitfully lived life brings satisfaction" - this principle the great Italian remained faithful to the end of his days. He believed that both science and art are the way of knowledge and transformation of the world, and therefore tried to get into the essence of all things and phenomena around him - whether it is the structure of the human body, the flight of birds, the origin of the rainbow or the theory of painting. The book publishes selected natural scientific works of Leonardo da Vinci and his "Treatise on Painting". The translation into Russian was made by the greatest scientists of the twentieth century A.A. Huber and V.P. Zubov.
