Karl Haushofer (1869-1946) – German geographer and sociologist, founder of the German school of geopolitics, received a military education, carried out various diplomatic assignments in Southeast Asia, worked as a military attaché in Japan, participant in the First World War (retired with the rank of major general). For many years he was a professor at the University of Munich, founded the German Institute of Geopolitics and the "Journal of Geopolitics".
Developing the views of Ratzel, Kjell, Mackinder and Bismarck's idea of a Russian-German alliance, the author developed a unique version of Eurasianism - the military-geopolitical doctrine of the "Continental Bloc (Union)", which was supposed to unite the states of Eurasia in opposition to the Anglo-Saxon world. In this doctrine, Haushofer introduced the concept of Lebensraum - "living space", which became the official doctrine of the Third Reich. At the same time, Karl Haushofer himself did not share the views of the Nazi elite of Germany and even ended up in the Dachau concentration camp for his beliefs.
This edition includes selected works: "Borders in their geographical and political meaning" "Panideas in geopolitics" "Status Quo and the Renewal of Life" "Continental Bloc: Central Europe - Eurasia - Japan"
