This book describes in detail the concept of cognitive (new) cynology.
I made my first attempt to describe new cynology in 2014. However, at that time, the concept was not fully developed, as there was still a lack of data. Consequently, many questions remained open, leading to controversy. This book addresses this shortcoming.
The development of the new cynology concept was made possible by the many years of effort of progressive specialists, dog owners, and scientists from many countries. All of these people were motivated by the fact that common methods of handling dogs contradict their biological qualities, primarily their high cognitive abilities.
I was fortunate to participate in this work. For 15 years, I studied information describing various aspects of canine behavior, their inner world, and the laws of learning. In analyzing the data, I was also assisted by information from other fields of biology and my own experience. The result is a concept that provides clear answers to key questions in cynology:
- What are dogs' cognitive abilities, and how can they be taken into account when interacting with them?
- What are the laws by which dogs build social bonds, and how can we create a reliable connection with them?
- What are the principles of dog development, and how can we use them to adapt a dog to its environment?
- What are the principles of dog training, and what were the mistakes of the old masters?
- How can we interpret and solve basic dog behavior problems?
- How can we recognize dog cruelty and improve animal welfare efforts?
This book will be useful to anyone who has connected their life with dogs.
