Pierre Cochon's Norman Chronicle covers the time period from 1108 to 1433 and mainly recounts the military confrontation between France and England. The same manuscript contains a brief "Rouen Chronicle" covering the events of Rouen's history from 1371 to 1424. The entire source has survived to our time in a single list, which was brought into scientific circulation by French scholars in the second half of the 19th century. The manuscript, numbering 98 dense paper sheets, belonged to the Norman nobleman Nicolas Duquesnay in the early 16th century, and later, having changed a number of owners, among them Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Louis XIV's finance minister, it entered the collections of the National Library of France, where it is still kept.
