Stig Dagerman (1923-1954) - author of novels, plays, poems and short stories, the idol of a whole generation of Scandinavians. His novels The Serpent (1945) and The Island of the Doomed (1946) made the young writer an iconic figure in literary Sweden. However, Dagerman also worked all his life as a journalist, creating articles, reports, reviews and poems on the topic of the day for the syndicalist newspaper Rabochy. In 1946, the Expressen newspaper invited Dagerman to go to Germany and write travel notes about the post-war life of the country. They aroused such interest that already in 1947 they were published as a separate book. This edition is supplemented by several program texts by Stig Dagerman of the war and post-war period.
