A new book from the bestselling author of "Special Meat."
The world as we know it has changed forever—climate crises, power outages, and water wars have virtually wiped out flora and fauna, which have now degenerated into dangerous, deformed forms. The few surviving women take refuge in an abandoned monastery, where they have been sheltered by a religious sect. The protagonist writes a diary secretly, under cover of night, using poisonous berries, charcoal, or blood as ink. She wants whoever finds her notes to discover what happened behind these walls: torture, sacrifices, and cruel ceremonies presented as a path to salvation. Sister Superior presides over all this, and is superior only to "He," a mysterious figure who rules from the shadows. The novel immerses the reader in a grim reality ruled by the dark dictates of a deceitful and cruel god, which can only be broken by rediscovering long-forgotten feelings—compassion and trust in one's fellow man.
"No one can say 'no' to a Sister Superior, for every one of them wants to stay alive."
