On a summer day in 1939, Perry Nelson, a military pilot and naval officer, trying to avoid a car that drove into the oncoming lane, falls from a height of forty meters onto the coastal rocks. The last thing he sees is yellow beach sand and a girl playing with a ball. He wakes up in a new body and with a new name. Now he is Gordon 755-82, and the year on the calendar is 2086. The world in which he finds himself has changed in everything - from technology and household items to politics and morality. The only thing that has not changed is the one-eared Captain Kidd, the cat of the owner who took Nelson in. Cats are cats at all times. In addition to the novel, the book includes Heinlein's works from the collection "Requiem", compiled by the writer's widow, and the humorous story "Identified Defects: A Note from a Cyborg", which (with the exception of the story "Requiem") are published in Russian for the first time.
