A book by journalists Tatjana Fast and Vladimir Vigman has been published to mark the 10th anniversary of the Open City smart club. In 2014, Riga journalists created a discussion platform for meetings with famous writers, political scientists, diplomats, actors... Since then, the smart club has hosted about a hundred speakers from different countries: Latvia, Israel, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Great Britain, France, Switzerland... If we collected the recordings of all the meetings, we would have a multi-volume book. This collection includes 30 meetings, including meetings with Nobel Peace Prize winner Dmitry Muratov, actress Chulpan Khamatova, poet Igor Guberman, writer Alexander Genis and others. From year to year, the guests of the Smart Club analyzed the changes that were taking place in the large Eastern European space, including Russia, Ukraine, and the Baltic States. Some speakers can be called Nostradamus with good reason...The book is called "Dialogues on a Volcano". Why on a volcano? Because all these 10 years Latvia has been living next to an open crater and the feeling of danger: will it blow up? And now the work is boiling in the club think tank, together with new guests journalists are trying to understand the principle of action of this volcano, to predict the direction of movement of the red-hot lava ...
