Venedikt Yerofeyev is a phenomenon in Russian literature that is bright and ambiguous. His famous poem “Moscow – Petushki”, written back in 1970, is a kind of philosophical parable, a work outside of time, because Yerofeev created in the book his world, his universe, in the center of which is “man as a meeting place of all planes of being.” First appeared in the pages of the magazine “Soberness and Culture” in 1988, the poem “Moscow – Petushki” became a true revelation for readers and was later translated into many languages of the world.
