Venedikt Erofeev gained worldwide fame thanks to his famous poem “Moscow-Petushki”, translated into more than thirty languages. And although its hero, Venichka, never saw Red Square, he became truly popular, and the author himself is now recognized as a classic of Russian literature of the 20th century. However, Erofeev’s creative legacy is not only the poem “Moscow-Petushki”, it is also “Notes of a Psychopath” (1956-1958), begun at the age of 17, and the play “Walpurgis Night” (part of the author’s conceived but unrealized trilogy under the general title “Drei Nächte”), and so-called works of short prose, including an essay written for the entrance exams to the institute, and a short autobiography. All this, as well as fragments from the notebooks that Venedikt Erofeev kept from the end of the 1950s, and a small text - a recollection of entering the Vladimir Pedagogical Institute, are included in this edition, which will be a wonderful gift for fans of the writer.
