"The Witches' Hammer" is the infamous "witch hunters' manual" written by the monk Heinrich Kramer and the Dean of the University of Cologne, Jakob Sprenger.
The book was published in 1487 and went through 29 reprints, gaining equal popularity throughout religiously torn Europe.
Most researchers are inclined to the version that with the help of this book Heinrich Kramer tried to justify his own inquisitorial activities, which led to the burning of two hundred women and the shameful expulsion of Kramer from the Inquisitorial service for fanaticism and cruelty.
The result was exactly the opposite of what was expected - the Inquisition, aimed at destroying heretics and religious freethinkers, condemned the author himself in 1490.
