Daniil Alexandrovich Granin (1919–2017) is a Russian prose writer, screenwriter and publicist, winner of numerous literary and state awards, author of the novels “Seekers”, “I Go to a Thunderstorm”, “Evenings with Peter the Great”, etc., as well as the legendary “Blockade Book”, written in co-authorship with A. Adamovich. The novel “My Lieutenant”, offered to the attention of readers, was published in 2011 and was awarded the national award “Big Book”. According to critics, “My Lieutenant” expanded the canons of military prose and became “the last novel where there is truth about war” (B. Averin). It tells the story of a soldier, one of those who during the Great Patriotic War fought on the approaches to Leningrad. Looking back at the past, the narrator recalls with surprise himself, Lieutenant D., a young dreamer whose actions are not always clear to the current "Lieutenant D." The present collection includes other works by Daniil Granin, dedicated to the war and post-war life, including the novella “Our Combat”, “Another noticeable trace”, “Beautiful Uta”, “She and everything else”.
