The book can be read from both sides.

In 1934, A. A. Milne, author of the Winnie-the-Pooh books and World War I veteran, published "Peace with Honour," a book with an eloquent plea to prevent another war in Europe at any cost. Six years later, in 1940, Milne was forced to write a sequel, "War with Honour," in which, while remaining a supporter of peace, he acknowledged that Nazism must be fought with force of arms. This unintentional duology, created in a dark time and translated into Russian for the first time, is a unique document of the 20th century, a reflection on human nature and the limits of pacifism.
