The Hare, who had many children, went into the forest to find food for his large family. He picked a sack full of apples, but on the way home, he encountered various forest creatures and generously shared the ripe fruit with them all. First, he fed the bear, then the squirrels, the hedgehog, the goat and her kids, and the mole. And the magnanimous Hare gave his very last apple to the grumpy Crow. And she took it, despite her indignation that the hungry hares wouldn't get anything.

The Hare had to return to the apple tree to pick more apples, but it was no use. First, he was caught in a thunderstorm and rainstorm. When he reached the tree, he saw the Wolf, who was overjoyed—such a tasty morsel had just fallen into his clutches. But the Hare threw the empty sack over the wolf's head and ran away.

While the mother hare and her babies waited for their father, animals began to come to their house with gifts, to whom our hero had given apples. The squirrels brought nuts, the hedgehog a basket of mushrooms, the goat cabbage and milk, and the mole brought carrots, potatoes, parsley, and beets.

When the miserable, wet, and tired Hare returned home empty-handed, his well-fed children were already asleep. And then, frightening everyone with a loud bang, the bear appeared with a barrel of honey in gratitude for the apples.

The next day, the large hare family sat around a table filled with all sorts of treats. And Crow was amazed – how so much goodness had come from an empty sack.

Good deeds are always rewarded. Be generous and responsive, and everything will come back to you in greater measure. But one shouldn't imitate the envious and evil Crow. This is stated in the fairy tale about the kind and selfless Hare, written and drawn by the artist and storyteller Vladimir Grigorievich Suteev.
