Dreams of the State: American Jewish Communists and the Soviet Birobidzhan Project, 1924–1951
29.99 €
The Jewish Communist movement played an important role in Jewish communal politics in American cities such as Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia from the 1920s through the 1950s. Drawing on Yiddish books, newspapers, periodicals, pamphlets, and other materials, Henry Srebrnik describes the ideological and material support that the Jewish Autonomous Region of Birobidzhan received from two American organizations, the Organization for Jewish Colonization in Russia and the American Birobidzhan Committee.
