Joseph Brodsky, one of the greatest Russian poets of the 20th century, built a vast edifice of poems, verses, and works of his own unique genre, the "long poem," during his short life. True to the traditions of Russian classics such as Pushkin and Lermontov, Brodsky rapidly expanded the scope of his creative work. He is the author of two plays, "Marble" and "Democracy," and several dozen essays, most of which are written in English. In 1987, Brodsky was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature "for his multifaceted work, marked by acuteness of thought and profound poetic quality."

This volume of selected works by Joseph Brodsky includes poetry collections "A Stop in the Desert," "The End of a Beautiful Era," "A Part of Speech," "New Stanzas to Augusta," "Urania," and "Landscape with a Flood," published by the American publishing house Ardis from 1970 to 1996, as well as the play "Marble" and essays.
