German writer Wilhelm Hauf (1802-1827) is deservedly considered one of the best storytellers in the world. As a child, the boy's favorite place was his grandfather's library, where young Wilhelm spent many hours reading books with enthusiasm. After growing up, Hauf took a job as a governess in the family of the Minister of War, Baron Ernst Eugen von Högel. It was for his children that Hauf wrote his first fairy tales, among them the tale of Little Mook. This cautionary tale about the adventures of a dwarf who became the owner of magical shoes, speeding, came to the heart of many readers and gained popularity not only in the homeland of the writer, but also abroad. The tale was illustrated by the talented artist Vladimir Nenov.
