Little Women is the most famous novel by American writer Louisa May Alcott. First published in 1868, it won the love of readers all over the world, was translated into more than 50 languages and was the basis for many films and theatrical productions. Little Women tells the story of four friendly, different sisters: romantic Meg, flighty Jo, quiet Beth and wayward Amy. Together with their mother, waiting for their father to return from the war, the girls go through a difficult path of growing up, where they encounter hardships and rewards, mortal dangers and selfless help, false landmarks and true friends. The success of Little Women and Young Wives (the second part, published in 1869) exceeded all expectations. Alcott subsequently wrote two more novels about "little women and men." This tetralogy remains one of the most vivid, surprisingly modern literary works about growing up, friendship, love and loyalty. This volume includes all four novels of the famous tetralogy in the best translations, with detailed commentary.
