A boy named Yulka is an ordinary 10-year-old man who finds himself in completely unusual and disturbing circumstances. Yulka is a Leningrader, he lived in the most beautiful city in the world, went to school and did not even think about becoming a hero. But at the end of the summer of 1941, a policeman came to him and his mother and said that Yulka needed to be evacuated. Alone, without his mother, having fallen behind his school group, Yulka begins his long journey across a large country. He will have to meet many people, good and bad, visit amazing places, and eventually settle in Uzbekistan, find true friends and wait for the Victory.
