Pavel Petrovich Bazhov (1879-1950) - Russian writer, author of the famous book of Ural tales "The Malachite Box", who glorified the legends and traditions of his native land to the whole world. Bazhov was born into the family of a mining foreman in a small town in the Urals. His childhood was spent among miners and prospectors who were looking for gold in the Ural mountains, mining malachite and mica. After graduating from the seminary, Bazhov taught Russian, studied journalism, traveled extensively in the Urals, and collected folklore. The first edition of The Malachite Box took place in 1939. Bazhov by this time was 60 years old. The work on the book did not end there. Until the end of his days, the writer replenished his magic box with new tales that combined folk poetry and wisdom with the fine skill of a great artist.
The publication includes a complete collection of Ural tales by P. Bazhov: "Stone Flower", "Malachite Box", "Mistress of the Copper Mountain", "Silver Hoof" and others, as well as autobiographical stories "The Green Filly", "Far - Close" and a collection "Ural realities", which are based on memories of the Ural life and childhood years of the writer.
