Spirou and Fantasio were visiting their learned friend, the Count de Champignac, when they came across a news article about a wealthy shipowner announcing a competition to build a deep-sea apparatus. Professor Champignac was thrilled with the idea and quickly sketched out a design for a diving suit and a submarine. The plans were sent to a measuring instrument factory and to the founder of the prize, Xenophon Hamadrias. Spirou had no idea that by dropping a letter into the mailbox, he was paving the way to a moray eel's lair. A week later, a series of strange events began. A truck carrying parts for the submersible lost control and then caught fire. An investigation revealed that a tire had been punctured by a bullet, and the truck had been set on fire. The entire equipment had to be reordered. A month later, an explosion occurred in the castle workshop, destroying the nearly completed submarine. The day before, a similar explosion had destroyed the laboratory of another competitor, seriously injuring him. Things were taking a dangerous turn: someone was methodically eliminating their competitors. Spirou and his friends decided to move to the city, where they had managed to complete construction of the submarine. Hamadrias, to whom they presented their invention, revealed the true purpose of the competition: to find his ship, wrecked off Cap Rose, and to recover some items from a depth of 200 meters. After this conversation, unknown assailants attempted to kidnap Spirou and the Count de Champignac, who only narrowly escaped. So the friends decided to continue the search for the sunken ship secretly and at their own risk...

The perky little Spirou, wearing a bright red groom's suit, first appeared on the cover of the magazine of the same name in 1938 and is a true legend of Franco-Belgian comics. For 85 years, together with his friend, the tireless journalist Fantasio, and his faithful companion, a clever squirrel named Spip, he has traveled the world, investigating mysterious events, rescuing those in trouble, restoring justice, and punishing villains, making thousands of amazing discoveries along the way. The series about his adventures spans over 50 volumes, and the opportunity to draw even one story about Spirou is an honor for Europe's finest comics artists.

A crucial event in Spirou's life was his meeting with André Franquin (1924–1997). The talented artist worked on the series for nearly a quarter of a century and elevated it to the level of a masterpiece of the ninth art. Eight of Franquin's finest albums are being published in Russian for the first time, including "Spirou and the Heirs," "The Marsupilami Thieves," "The Bad Head," "The Moray Eel's Lair," and "The Marsupilami Nest."

"The Adventures of Spiru and Fantasio" will appeal to children aged 7 and up and their parents, who will appreciate the twisty plot, humor, and superb artwork.
