An orphan boy named Zo lives in a fishing village on the island of Haiti. He tries to earn a living in any way he can: he chops reeds, picks almonds, helps fishermen catch fish, takes part in fist fights... And then he goes wandering in search of a better life. A few years pass, and one day, while carrying cement at the construction site of a house for a rich doctor, Zo notices a young beauty who is drinking cherry juice in the shade of a spreading old tree. Their gazes meet, and both are instantly gripped by love fever. The young people have much in common, although they are at different ends of the social ladder, because Anaya is the daughter of a rich doctor. The strict father sends his daughter to the capital's medical college, away from her beggarly lover. Zo rushes after her... And on January 12, 2010 a powerful earthquake shakes Haiti. It seems that the elements themselves turned against this love! Will the lovers manage to survive and find happiness?
