The book has a minor defect on the edges of the binding.

The third volume of Ariadna Gromova's collected works includes her novel about the Kiev underground, "The Front Line in the East," presented in its entirety for the first time. While the first part, albeit with difficulty, was published in 1958, the second part (the author intended three parts) was banned for ideological reasons. Criticisms included an inaccurate portrayal of the Kyiv underground, an overemphasis on the fight against traitors, an overly soft portrayal of the fascists, an overly modernized view of the events of 1937, and much more. Gromova, who herself experienced the Kiev underground, arrest, and the camps, categorically disagreed with this assessment.
