February 10 in Portsmouth Admiralty solemnly launched a battleship, which is, according to "Times", the strongest, best protected and fastest of all the battleships built so far, embodying both the latest ideas of the most experienced British sailors, as well as the instructions of the last war. The Dreadnought was launched.
In its design were embodied all the requirements of the sailors. So the critics of the new ship were deprived of trump cards regarding excessive size and high cost. Detailed study of the project "Dreadnought" was entrusted to engineer D. Narbet, who made many calculations to determine the minimum power for a given displacement and speed. In every direction, the battleship ushered in a new era. Brilliant in conception, it became the center of attention during construction and subsequently caused much controversy. It was a remarkable success both structurally and mechanically. In addition, the ship had a formidable appearance. In the spring of 1907, Fisher presented the newest battleship to members of Parliament, delegations of civic organizations, and the press. This was the Dreadnought's finest hour. All the newspapers were filled with praise, and there was no shortage of people wanting to visit the ship. Thus began a new era - the era of dreadnoughts.
