In the distant country of Ngumbazania, there lived a lion named Eli. For a long time he was the storm of the savannah, and the best bite always went to him. But the years took their toll, the lion grew old and now could only be satisfied with scraps in the company of vultures. The fussy, sloppy scavengers annoyed Eli terribly. He never imagined that one day he would call them his friends. A tale about how life is no longer dreary and lonely when friends are around to help in times of need. This fairy tale was written and drawn by Bill Peet (1915-2002), a famous American artist, screenwriter and writer whose books have been published in different languages of the world for more than half a century. Before becoming a writer, Bill Peet worked for many years as an animator at Walt Disney Studios and participated in the creation of legendary full-length cartoons such as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", "Alice in Wonderland", "Peter Pan", and many others.
