We present to the readers the first part of the novel-dilogy by the famous writer, lawyer, statesman and TV presenter Pavel Astakhov. More than five million children under the age of fourteen were prisoners of German concentration camps during World War II. Only one in ten survived... Among them was the main character of Pavel Astakhov's novel, Lyonka. His childhood was interrupted by the war that began in 1941. The boy had to go through a terrible path of growing up, first participating in the partisan movement, and then facing all the horrors of the German concentration camps, where he and his mother were taken. The trials did not break Lyonka. And in this he was undoubtedly helped by the Beautiful Virgin depicted on the medallion given to him by an unknown woman, as Lyonka later learned - the Holy Mother of God.
