The book "Leningrad. From "Spark" to "January Thunder" tells about what happened in the city on the Neva and on the fronts surrounding Leningrad, from January 1943 to January 1944. For the people of Leningrad it was a year of hopes and great expectations. In early 1943, as a result of the operation "Spark" the Red Army broke through the blockade ring. But it was not possible to completely lift the blockade. For another year the city had to live under constant enemy shelling and bombing. And to experience the cruelest restrictions. But, on the other hand, it was already the time of slow, gradual, but inevitable revival of peaceful life with all its joys, difficulties and problems. Every day Leningraders believed more and more that the blockade would end, which happened in January 1944. This time is reflected in the documents and newspapers of that time, as well as letters, diaries and memoirs collected in the book. Their authors are a wide variety of people. From world-famous military leaders to ordinary infantrymen, tankers and pilots.
