The Karelian village of Kaise is surrounded by impassable bogs, frozen lakes, and windswept wastelands. Four years ago a girl Varvara Karpova disappeared somewhere in those places. Her parents went to look for her - and also disappeared. The mother's body was found with a bullet wound, and the father was missing.
The search team on the way to the temple got bogged down in snowdrifts, but luckily managed to reach the only inhabited hut. There with his wife and four children lived keeper of antiquities and creator of the local ethnographic museum Tikhon Dikonov.
