This edition presents Selma Lagerlöf's Tales of Christ translated by Nikolai Smolensky. It was published in 1913 as a supplement to the magazine "Christian's Rest" and enjoyed great popularity. The author's collection by the great Swedish writer, who became the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, includes stories she heard as a child from her deeply religious grandmother about the Lord Jesus Christ. They provide distinctive interpretations of the Nativity of Christ, the Savior's childhood, and His sufferings on the Cross. Undoubtedly, there is fiction here, but fiction, filled with reverence and aimed at stirring in the hearts of readers (listeners) of these fairy tale stories a burning love and interest in Christianity, to strengthen faith and willingness to follow the paths indicated by our Lord Jesus Christ, with hope and faith assimilating the teachings of the Mother of our Church. The book, written and translated, adapted by us to the norms of the modern Russian language, is intended for family reading, will not leave adults and children indifferent.
