Alistair MacLean (1922–1987) was a British writer, author of 28 action-packed novels and adventure stories, and screenwriter. His name is widely known to readers all over the world. MacLean’s books have sold over 150 million copies, and 18 films have been made based on his novels, screenplays, and plots. In 1983, the University of Glasgow awarded the writer a doctorate in literary studies.
