First-rank cruiser "Askold". (1898-1921)

The proposed book is dedicated to the valiant 1st rank cruiser "Askold". It so happened that the Russian fleet, except for the only "Diana" type, did not have its own projects of armored deck cruisers and all of them were built at foreign shipyards in America, France, Denmark and Germany. "Askold", as the brainchild of German engineers, turned out to be not only the fastest, but also the most reliable ship. It passed with honor all the trials of the first twenty years of the 20th century: two wars, sabotage on board, grounding and confrontation with the elements of the sea. "Askold" is one of the few Russian ships that operated in all four oceans of the globe.

The language of reports, dispatches and memoirs tells about the construction and service of the cruiser, about how the Askold people fought and how they coped with the consequences of the terrorist attack organized by order of the revolutionaries.
