This book is a series of talks by Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom) of Sourozh (1914-2003), one of the most famous spiritual leaders and preachers of the turn of the XX-XXI century, in which he talks about beauty, creativity, art, the image and expression of reality, and how ugliness differs from ugliness. The 1982 talks were given by Metropolitan Anthony at the invitation of the University of Kent County as part of the annual readings dedicated to the memory of the Christian poet Thomas Eliot. In spite of the seemingly far from theological subject matter, Vladyka fills it with the deepest theological content. Approved for distribution by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church. Translated from English by V. V. Erokhina.
