The first album devoted entirely to masterpieces of paintings, drawings and miniatures from the Royal Collection, the magnificent art collection owned by the British Crown and Elizabeth II. For the first time, more than 220 masterpieces from the collections of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, the Tower of London, and the private royal residences are brought together in one edition, many of which can only be seen in the pages of this album. The book contains more than 390 illustrations of the highest quality, on which you can see even the smallest details of the masterpieces of painting and graphics. The publication has been prepared with the direct involvement of the curators of the Royal Collection Trust, the foundation that manages the art treasures collected by the rulers of Great Britain for more than 500 years. The foreword was written by Tim Knox, Director of the Royal Collection and Chairman of the Board of the Royal Collection Trust. The author of the book is Anna Poznanskaya, PhD in Art History, art historian, specialist in Western European painting, senior researcher at the Department of Art of Europe and America of the XIX-XX centuries of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. The Royal Collection is the heritage of the British monarchy. It is entrusted to the Royal Collection Trust by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The collection includes not only paintings and drawings, which are the subject of this book, but also sculpture, books and all kinds of decorative arts, from French porcelain to Fabergé jewelry. The items in this collection have adorned and still adorn royal residences and are important components of any royal ceremonies, for example, used at receptions and gala dinners. Works from the collection are also displayed in palaces that are no longer the official residences of the reigning monarch, such as the Tower of London, Hampton Court and Kensington Palace. The paintings in the Royal Collection include paintings by famous artists, both European and British. Among them are Titian and Caravaggio, Rubens and Poussin, Reynolds and Gainsborough, and many other masters of world painting. Most of these masterpieces are in palaces and estates and still adorn their interiors. The series "Great Museums of the World" has been published by SLOVO/SLOVO publishing house since 1998.
