Pyotr Valentinovich Turchin (born 1957) is a specialist in population dynamics and mathematical modeling of historical dynamics. He has led several large ecological projects. He made a particularly important contribution to the development of mathematical models of "secular" socio-demographic cycles. It was P. V. Turchin who first proposed the concept of "cliodynamics".
In his book The End of Times, Peter Turchin warns society about some key social and political trends foreshadowing a decade of civil unrest and strife, war and poverty.
The fundamental problems of current social ills have three sources: the "overproduction of elites," the decline in living standards of the general population, and the inability of governments to cope with their obligations.
It is these causes that lead modern society to its natural "end of times", which is always followed by new cycles of political integration and disintegration.
