This book is a guide for psychotherapists exploring the author's holistic approach to overcoming the effects of childhood trauma, which typically underlies complex PTSD. The author's proposed solutions can greatly assist therapists in addressing developmental delays that clients experience during childhood under the traumatic "care" of abusive and/or neglectful parents or other caregivers.

The author's approach is based on exploring and restoring six key areas of underdeveloped innate intelligence: social, behavioral, cognitive, emotional, somatic, and spiritual. Survivors of childhood trauma gradually begin to recognize that their symptoms are a normal child's response to abnormal upbringing conditions permeated with violence, neglect, danger, and lack of love. A vulnerable self-disclosure approach helps clients overcome internal shame, master self-help techniques, and increase motivation for healing change.
