The historical and chronographic work of St. Demetrius of Rostov, "The Cell Chronicler", written by him in the last years of his life, enjoyed great popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries. Its content uniquely combines the genre of the chronograph - the oldest historical chronicle - with theological considerations, which determines the special semantic capacity of the text. St. Ignatius Bryanchaninov and St. Ambrose of Optina pointed out the special significance of the Chronicler "for guidance in life itself, to know and be able to know how to act in a purely Christian manner, according to the Orthodox rulings". The book is accompanied by an introductory article telling about the history of the creation of the Chronicler.
The publication is intended for a wide range of readers.
